The Remix: Homemade Hummus

Hey Family,

Check out my quick and easy recipe for hummus. I promise, once you make your own homemade hummus, you will never buy it from the store again.

This is a basic recipe, but you can add in whatever you like…roasted garlic instead of the fresh garlic, or roasted red bell pepper and you can even add some herbs too!

I love serving this as a dip at parties, because it tastes great at room temperature. It also makes a great healthy snack and a unique spread on sandwiches.

Evelyn you are too funny!! I love your videos on cooking! One of these days I’m going to be inspired to cook too!!

  4. You can blend in flavor enhancers like roasted red pepper, pesto, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, or apricot (though if you’re going sweet, I’d forgo the garlic scapes). Later this week we plan on mixing our leftover hummus with masala spices to pair with our Indian dinner.

Great recipe- I made it and it is so easy and dilucioes! I really love hummus and it a good idea to have an alternative to tahini as I rarely buy tahini but often have sesame seeds available for other recipes. I also learnt that chickpeas are garbanzo beans which I have never heard of before. I will definitely make it again- so healthy and dilucioes.

  6. I love whole chickpeas seasoned with cumin and oregano, but I’ve never bought a single jar of tahini so I’ve never made my own hummus! I can get dry hummus mix from Trader Joes and that is usually what I do so I can mix in roasted garlic or sundried tomatoes or whatever else I’m craving at the time. I’d love to try something really out of the ordinary like perserved lemon or rosemary…Yours looks wonderful!
